Ventnor City residents and guests can enjoy an afternoon at Birch Grove Park only 10 minutes from Ventnor and 5 minutes from the Margate Bridge. The park has picnic areas with tables and grills, a playground, miles of nature trails, ponds, and bridges and offers many possibilities to observe nature and wildlife. A leisurely walk around the ponds takes about an hour with lots of bird watching opportunities and occasionally a fox or raccoon might venture into view. The park is a fine example of the natural beauty of South Jersey woodlands. The kids will love the adventure of exploring the trails making this a favorite family outing they will remember.
The park has 271 acres with ball fields, picnic groves, a gazebo for concerts, and 21 different ponds within the property. The ponds are stocked 5 times a season with trout, drawing fishermen who claim the fishing is at times incredible, catching not only trout but also largemouth bass (weighing up to 5 pounds) and pickerel.

There are often many bird watching opportunities at Birch Grove, a recent stroll through the nature trail offered opportunities to see and photograph a Red Cardinal, several Hawks, an Osprey, Robins, Finch and Geese.
